It’s a Fine Night for a Sunset Walk
Welcome. Below is my non-interrupted walk if you want to experience the sunset walk for yourself without my excessive use of imagery and description. Question: If a picture is worth a thousand words, then what is a video worth?
The Challenge of Filming Karon Beach
Karon Beach was a hard one to film. Not because of any technical issue, but because one gets to be got caught up in the moment of the overwhelming beauty of this country. As I walked, I noticed people sitting, cross-legged, looking out into the vast Adaeman Sea, as the great orange ball in the sky lowered into the sea. No phones. No cameras. Just a collective moment of reflection.

Just Off the Main Road
Karon Beach is 5km of beautiful, sandy-white beach, against the backdrop of the aquamarine of the Adaeman. The beach is divided into three sections: Karon Center, the Lake area, and the Beachfront Road. And although the areas are busy with hawker stalls, tradition and modern Thai and International restaurants, this was a pocket of peace as the sun began to set on a hot April night.

A Moment to Disconnect
In a world where the notification sound on our phone sends an electrical surge of pleasure into our brain; the rapid fire of dopamine ceases. The night settles into the day, and the cosmic forces remind us where we came from. At the end of the walk, I sat down on a formation of rocks and joined everyone else and stared out into the ocean. The last remnants of the day, slowly dissipating. The world, in the chaos of Songkran, was at peace for a moment. My job was finished for the day, and now it was time to sit and digest it.
