Virtual Tour: Wong Amat Beach – Pattaya
For the full experience of Wong Amat Beach without interruption, please feel free to watch my virtual tour below and give it a Like and Subscribe if you haven’t already. Despite the rumbles of tractors in the air at the beginning of this tour, peace takes over and the walk quickly becomes a peaceful journey.
Finding Solitude and Charm Beyond the Crowds
Many of the tourists who visit Pattaya make a beeline to Pattaya Beach or south towards Jomtien Becah, both are popular options, but I like to stretch out. I tend to venture to beaches to be away from people and to reconnect with the ocean and search for a sliver of inner peace.
Wong Amat is not necessarily the most aesthetically looking beach, the sand is slightly coarse and there are the periodic hymns of construction in the area, but I find that it is a small price to pay, as Wong Amat has its pockets of beauty and charm.

A Peaceful Walk Along the Sand and the Rocks
The tide was low when I began my walk down Wong Amat beach. The locals were already out playing in the shallow water and splashing about. There were a handful of local families there, as the water is very shallow and there is plenty of space for the little guys to run about.
For most of my walk, tourists and locals alike were spread out, stretched out and enjoying the high-noon sun of Thailand, baking to a slow brown. There is plenty of room to stretch out, roll around in the sand if you fancy that, or simply sit on the beach and enjoy the view Koh Larn island in the distance.
The rocks at the end of my journey were the best part for me. There were a few people hanging out on the rock formation at the end of the one kilometer beach, having a lunch, enjoying a beer and watching the waves crashing into the rocks. I took a moment to take it all in.

Bring a Towel and Pack a Lunch
Unlike the bustling beaches of Pattaya, Jomtien and even out on the island of Koh Larn, there are very few amenities here. There are no beach chairs for rent, no venders hawking their wares up and down the shore and no restaurants in the immediate vicinity.
Grab a large, blue styrofoam cooler like its 1985 and you’re heading to Lake Michigan in your Pontiac Trans AM for July 4th, and fill it up with plenty of Leo, Chang and those little cheese toasties from 7-11.
There are a few local spots off the beach, both Thai and foreign spots if one desires. Bring toiletries as well because showers, washrooms are not nearby unless you happen to be staying at the resorts along the beach.

Final Thoughts and Advice
Wong Amat is not for everybody. Many people have become accustomed to the modern luxuries of Western and Thai food being delivered directly to beach lounge chair, whilst sipping on a Mai Tai. If I am being completely honest with myself, I tend to be one of those people.
With that said, Wong Amat has a nostalgic vibe that really pulled at my heart strings. Summers on the beaches of Canada, with just a cooler full of sandwiches and some drinks, while my family and I played on the beach for hours. I felt that here. If you are craving that same feeling, Wong Amat should be on your radar.
