Where to Stay in Koh Chang? The Nature Beach Resort is a Secluded Paradise

Overlooking the aptly named Lonely Beach, is the Nature Beach Resort on Koh Chang Island. The Nature Beach Resort stands alone, tucked away down in southwest side of the island, away from the bustling main street of the island. But what it lacks in location, makes up for in luxuries and amenities.

Welcome to the Secluded Paradise of The Nature Beach Resort in Koh Chang

From the pier, the ride down to the southern half of the island, in the back of a tuktuk with my suitcases in tow, was a long journey fill of spins and turns, but once I arrived at the hotel, it was worth the jostling, jumpy journey.

The hotel is secluded on the banks of Lonely Beach, located on southwest corner of the island. As I checked in, the first thing that I noticed was the absolute peace and quiet of the hotel. It would have been eerie without the gentle rolling waves of the Gulf of Thailand in the background.

Everything is conveniently centralized. The reception is attached to a lobby, aligned with a large bookshelf, wooden floors, reminiscent of a friendly, family-owned inn. The restaurant is steps away from the lobby, and is beside the pool, all of which are overlooking the idyllic Lonely Beach.

Top Amenities at Nature Beach Resort: From Pools to Beachfront Access

As a traveler with kids, and if you are a parent and reading this, you know the first thing you need to look for in a hotel is a pool. The little ones are always clambering in the concrete hole of chlorine.

The pool is located at the heart of the resort, steps away from the restaurant and the residences. The water is shallow, clean and it overlooks the ocean. There are lounge chairs encircling the pool for parents to have a quiet beer while the kids splash about. When the children inevitably get tired of the pool, the sea and sand are a mere few feet away.

One thing I did notice is that the staff does have a keen eye on the kids. Everyone with families at the resort did seem to have trust in the staff and there were always staff seemingly on hand either at the restaurant or the pool area. Good to know for parents who have active young ones.

Dining at the Nature Beach Resort: Balancing Western and Thai Cuisine

When traveling, I find that it is a balancing act when it comes to dining. Although I love Thai cuisine, there is always a part of me that craves Western comforts. Traveling with kids, this is amplified, as my kids tend to be pretty unadventurous eaters.

Thankfully, the Nature Beach Resort had a diverse selection of Thai and Western options. I was particularly fond of their banana pancakes in the morning. The were a delight. The pizza and beer, whilst overlooking the beach at dusk was another delightful experience. The pad thai was on point and the staff was very friendly, attentive and welcoming to my bland Western tastes.

Charming Cabins at Nature Beach Resort: Simplicity by the Sea

The accommodations at the Nature Beach Resort are simple, but charming. My room was a single room with a queen-sized bed and a basic bathroom. The rooms are charming as they were reminiscent of lakeside cottages in Canada, that I used to spend my summers at.

Each detached cabin is central to the amenities of the resort and are within walking distance to the beach. For the digital nomad, the wifi in the cabin was strong that I got to watch my beloved Maple Leafs lose in 4K.

Beers on the Beachfront: Exploring the Secluded Paradise of Lonely Beach and the Nature Beach Resort

After a long day of filming, it’s nice to have a wind down by the shore. Lonely Beach is literally footsteps away from the hotel and the hotel has a line of comfortable cushions and tables for you to stretch out your legs and unwind after a day of relaxation.

A massage parlor is also available for hire on the beach as well, if you are really knotted up. But for me, a cold Chang, a cushion and pillow was all I needed to really embrace the tranquility of the beach and the resort.

Nature Beach Resort: Finding Value and Final Thoughts

For $45USD per night, I was very satisfied with my choice. I felt that there was good value for money at the hotel and the amenities were far-exceeding the costs. The location is secluded, if you are looking for a vibrant nightlife on the beach, you might be disappointed, although there are a few cool beach bars in the area.

The main reason that I would return is the seclusion and the value for my dollar. The Western options for the kids, the safe environment of the area and the million-dollar sunset views make it worth the money.

The only negative takeaway from my experience was that Lonely Beach was fairly rocky just outside the resort, not making an ideal place for sunbathing. The beach itself is secluded, so there isn’t the bustling feel of bars, restaurants and shops if you are you looking for a more exciting experience.
